Matt Skaff Interview On The Jiu-Jitsu Outlet Podcast- "Emotions Are Really Powerful"

Training in martial arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Judo, MMA, wrestling, & Muay Thai is my outlet for improving my mental health and becoming a better person.

On this fifteenth episode of the podcast, I interview Matthew Skaff. Matt is a 1st degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Eddie Bravo. As a coach, Matt teaches alongside one of our previous guests, Brandon Mccaghren, at 10th Planet Decatur in Decatur, Alabama.

Matthew dives into sharing his journey of overcoming OCD, panic attacks, and a lifetime of feeling overwhelmed by his emotions. We dive into discussing the mindset of professional athletes and we hear about how Matt uses Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as an outlet to improve his mental health.

On this episode, Matthew shares about why he started training and how it has benefited his life. He also explains about the fears and anxieties that face athletes at the professional level in BJJ or MMA. We get into talking about how to transmute emotional states into something more positive.

This is an episode you do NOT want to miss.

Favorite Quote:

"Emotions are really powerful... I was so used to burying everything deep down inside of me and that isn't a good way to live... Emotions have energy & those energies have to be expressed."
